You have an eye for unique pieces with old world sensibility, and a knack for styling them in a way that’s modern and personal to you.

Your design influences
The art salons of the 1800s were gatherings of creatives and writers and thinkers in private homes to share innovative art and ideas.
You’re inspired by Haussmanian Paris, Art Deco, and a well-rounded mix of time periods.
Your color palette
You reach for dark browns of aged wood and leather, gilded gold, and rich, jewel tones like emerald green, antique blue and poppy red.
Your furniture
Your dream home is full of the ornate shapes of antiques, contrasted with modern accent pieces.
Your materials
You’re drawn to velvets, walnut, porcelain, gold, anything with patina.
If your home doesn't match your Vintage Salon style...
I created this quiz because so many of my design clients feel overwhelmed by their Pinterest boards and stuck in the analysis paralysis of investing in furniture and art. They say "I don't like this, it doesn't fit but I spent money on it so I have to keep it."
I'm here to help you stop making mistake purchases and start expressing your Vintage Salon style more cohesively in your home.
If you are Vintage Salon and another style…
Or you are Vintage Salon and your partner or roommate is another style, then consider this Style Profile for common areas like the family room or dining room.
This style is an artful opportunity to incorporate family memorabilia, travel mementos, and sentimental antiques into your design.
When you’re shopping…
Antique malls, thrift stores and estate sales are an amazing place to source pieces for your Vintage Salon!
And the beauty in this is that you can often find higher quality pieces at better prices (think solid wood instead of particle board) and you’re contributing to the circular economy rather than buying new. It’s a win, win, win!
Your challenge
You love the character of older pieces, but you still want your home to reflect modern-day you. To master this mix, you will want to incorporate unique secondhand finds from a range of design eras. When shopping for antique accent pieces like picture frames, rugs or mirrors, look for items that show their age. For example a gold frame can look gaudy when it looks brand new, but a frame with chips and scuffs has charm. A well-worn Persian rug has much more character than a new rug from Overstock - imperfections can be beautiful!
To keep this looking fresh and modern, it’s key to mix in pieces that have contemporary shapes or patterns. For example, the lampshades in the room below feel contemporary.
Similarly, the bold checkerboard pattern of the textile hanging on the wall may be old but it feels modern.
What's next?
Your quiz results have given you the language to describe what styles of furniture and decor you’re drawn to, and a list of colors, shapes, and materials to get the look. So you can shop and style your home with an editor’s eye to figure out which pieces truly represent your personal style - and what might be missing the mark.
